Jacob Cochran is a fish biologist working for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) Lower Great Lakes Fish and Wildlife Conservation Office in Basom, NY. He leads the Aquatic Invasive Species program's early detection and monitoring efforts across the lower Great Lakes. Prior to joining the service, he earned his Master's degree in Great Lakes Ecosystem Science at SUNY Buffalo State, researching emerald shiners in the Niagara River. As an avid outdoorsman, Jacob enjoys fishing the diverse waterways of western New York, along with hunting waterfowl locally with his labrador retriever Marsh.
