Fly Fishing School

The Lake Erie Chapter of Fly Fishers International [LEC-FFI] is excited to bring back the Fly-Fishing School to the 2025 Greater Niagara Fishing Expo, February 13–16, 2025. This school is taught by LEC-FFI members with years of experience in all aspects of Fly Fishing. The focus of this school is to provide the beginner to intermediate Fly Fisher with knowledge such as purchasing the correct equipment and to teach techniques that bring Fly Fishing to the next level.


The LEC-FFI Fly Fishing School is continuously updated and customized to meet the needs of our students. This school will cover the following:


  • Equipment & Safety
  • Knots
  • Reading the Water
  • Entomology – From a Fly Fishers Perspective
  • Casting
  • Types of Flies & How to Fish Them

    • Nymphs
    • Streamers
    • Wet Flies
    • Emergers
    • Dry Flies



After taking the LEC-FFI Fly Fishing School, participants just getting into the sport will have the knowledge to purchase the fly-fishing gear they need as well as the knowledge to be successful their first time out. Attendees who have fly-fishing experience will gain the knowledge to up their game when it comes to entomology and will learn better techniques of fishing various flies. If you are interested in getting into Fly Fishing or are currently looking to improve your Fly Fishing abilities, then this is the school for you.

 

Registration Information

While admission to this school is free with admission to the Expo, pre-registration is required to ensure a productive, hands-on learning environment for all students. Seating is limited to 30 and will be closed when the class reaches capacity. The school will be held from 8:00 am to 12:30 pm on Saturday, February 15th, 2025. Registration also includes admission to the Expo on Saturday February 15th. A registration link will be available here soon; stay tuned!
