The Lake Ontario Trout & Salmon Association (LOTSA) is excited to offer a Lake Ontario Salmon Fishing Clinic on Sunday, February 16 at the Greater Niagara Fishing Expo 2025. This school is taught by LOTSA members with years of experience in all aspects of trolling for Chinook Salmon (Kings) on Lake Ontario. The focus of this school is to provide beginner and intermediate anglers with the knowledge to catch more Lake Ontario Kings.

This Clinic covers the following:

  • Basic Boat Setup (16-24 ft)
  • Understanding King Salmon
  • Basic Electronics
  • Basic Gear and Equipment 
  • How to Use Downriggers, Divers, and Long Lines
  • Understanding the Impacts of Speed, Temperature, Currents, and Wind
  • Thermocline and Bait
  • Where to Fish in Spring, Summer, and Fall
  • Tackle and Lures (Spoons, Flasher Fly, and Cut Bait Rigs)
  • Planning Your Trip
  • Safety On the Water
  • Proper Fish Handling, including Catch and Release


Registration Information
While admission to this school is free with general admission to the Expo, pre-registration is required to ensure a productive, hands-on learning environment for all students. Seating is limited and will be closed when the class reaches capacity. The school will be held from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm on Sunday, February 16, 2025. Registration also includes admission to the Expo on Sunday, February 16.
