Audrey Van Genechten

Audrey Van Genechten has worked as a Public Health Specialist with the New York State Department of Health since 2010. Her work as New York State Fish Advisory Outreach Manager and Program Manager for the Hudson River Fish Advisory Project focuses on helping fishermen of all backgrounds understand the NYSDOH advice about eating local fish. Audrey's extensive experience with face-to-face outreach to anglers makes her particularly interested in creating actionable advisories and understanding barriers to advisory compliance. Audrey is involved in the graphic design, creation, and testing of new and existing advisory materials.

Audrey received a Bachelor of Science from the University of Vermont with concentrations in Plant & Soil Science, Chemistry, and International Development.

Outside of work, Audrey is an avid musician (trumpet player) and fisherperson. She regularly fishes for striped bass in the Hudson during the spring and spends her summer fishing from her kayak in the Adirondacks. She enjoys camping with her family, fishing, kayaking, gardening, and spending time with her family and dogs.
